Top 12 Must Eats in Thailand!

Takin off to Thailand?  Well, I'll go right ahead and state the obvious, you made a GOOD choice!  With stunning beaches, cheap markets and endless adventures what more could one ask for? Oh right, FOOD! Well fortunately for you, Thailand serves up kick ass eats for cheap! From colourful curries to fresh and fragrant soups, salads and NOODLES, I can guarantee one thing, you won't go hungry this trip ;) . Now, I'll admit,  with Thailand being THE so called place to go in South East Asia, I feared it would be a little TOO "touristy" for my liking (...yes, I was wrong). Offering both hustle & bustle to perfect serenity (insert our villa at The Pavillions ... Have I told you that they make THE BEST banana pancakes EVER?)   I quickly realized that Thailand has something for everyone! Oh yeah and did I mention the food? But seriously. So Good. Here are my top 12 eats Thai eats  that you WON'T want to miss!

First Up

  1. Miang Kam

Miang Kham (translation one bite wrap) is aptly named and OH so tasty and refreshing! These greens are filled with toasted coconut shavings, chopped lime, ginger, shallots, peanuts and coated in a delightfully sweet and sticky sugar cane sauce that is cooked with galangal (a Thai-like ginger), lemongrass and fish sauce. OMNOMNOM. This was definitely one of my favourite street snacks by far! A one bite refreshment, but despite it being one bite, you are gonna want about 10 bites (at least ;) ) .

(Miang Kam goodie bags... ;) ) Just look at all that freshness in a bag! Take these goodie bags home and make them up yourself! YUM!

Try it at the Chatuchuck Weekend Market in Bangkok!

2. Spicy Green  Papaya Salad

I am obsessed with this salad. SO light and very refreshing. We munched on this basically every day but come on, can you blame us? This beauty was made from shredded unripened papaya (aka green papaya) onions and a variety of other veg then topped in a light and refreshing sauce made of lime, fish sauce, palm sugar and hot chilis (beware, this dish tends to vary in spice from one place to the next).

Try it pretty much anywhere! This dish can be found on most restaurant menus!

3. Tom Kha Gai

Well people, if you like coconut and you like soup, you're gonna LOVE this one. This was by far my favourite soup I had in Thailand. Think coconut milk infused with SO MANY fresh herbs! From lemongrass and cilantro to galangal and kaiffir leaves this definitely makes for a delicious and oh so satisfying soup! Not to mention it is SO easy to make!

Try it at any Thai restaurant or try making it at home! Click here for the recipe!
